Mourning Janis

I sat there and cried the other day as I listened to Bobby McGee came on the radio. Sometimes I just can’t believe Janis’s passionate soul no longer lives in this world with us. I’m not going to say I fully understand it, since she was never alive in my lifetime, but I mourn for her. She was a warrior that didn’t know her limits. I mean this twofold. First, she was a spirit that didn’t know how to set enough limits to keep herself alive. But she also seemed to have no idea of the upper limits of her talent. If she realized the intensity of her reach, if she realized how she touched people, surely she would not have gone so soon, right? If only she knew she was a warrior she could have saved herself. She was twenty-seven. In a few short days it will be the 45th anniversary of her death, but I morn this soul so often. I hope you are free, Sister. Thanks for the inspiration.“Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to loseNothin', don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free, no no..”
